Meeting Recap

We wrapped up 2025 with our Annual Meeting and Holiday Party at Himalayan Kitchen, celebrating a full year of flying, service projects, competitions, and community. Here are a few highlights from the evening:

Fall Highlights

Boy Scout Service Project

A Draper Boy Scout troop helped install a new concrete base for the Steep Mountain windsock. Club volunteers hauled tools, water, and supplies up the mountain to support the effort, and the new windsock was installed on November 22, 2025. Huge thanks to everyone who pitched in!

Steep Mountain Trail

The club continues to work with SL County Parks & Trails and Geneva to plan an acceptable trail route to the top of the upper ridge. We’ll share updates as progress continues.

North Side Weather Station

Almost ready to install — stay tuned!

South Side Fire (Nov. 9)

Following the fire at the under-construction Alta Vista apartment complex in Lehi, club members came together to clean up burned debris that had blown onto the South Side hill and LZ. We’re grateful for the quick response from volunteers who helped restore the site.

Insurance Update

The club spent many hours working with USHPA to become an insured chapter. While we were ultimately unable to complete the process to USHPA’s satisfaction and did not renew landowner insurance for 2025, the Board will continue discussions and work toward securing appropriate coverage in 2026.

Eastwood Elementary

Good news for the community — the Granite School District Board of Education voted in November to place an indefinite pause on the Area 5 study. This means no school closures or boundary adjustments are anticipated for the foreseeable future.

Budget Update

Members reviewed the 2025 Budget Report and discussed the proposed 2026 budget, which is pending approval from a quorum of 30 club members.

2026 Board of Directors

We’re excited to announce the 2026 Board:

New Directors

  • President: Harry Sandoval

  • Vice President: Chris Santacroce

  • Treasurer: James Masinelli

  • Safety Officer – Mini-Wings: Kevin Hintze

Continuing Directors

  • Secretary: Laura Anderson

  • Safety Officer – Paragliders: Andrew Ross

Thank you to everyone serving — your time and dedication keep this club running.

2025 Competition Awards

We celebrated our 2025 competition season and recognized pilots from all three competitions. Full contest details can be found here.

XC League winners received beautiful 3D relief maps created by UHGPGA’s Alexey Galda — truly works of art. If you’d like one of your own, join the XC League! Or reach out to Alexey.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the evening. Here’s to safe flights, strong lift, and an even better 2026!
