1. Financial Update

As of September 30, 2026, the club is approximately $6,000 over budget in income and $11,000 under budget in expenses. Overall, the club remains on track with its approved budget.

2. North & South Side Maintenance Budget

President Harry Sandoval proposed increasing the combined North and South Side Maintenance budget from $4,000 to $7,000 to cover:

  • New windsock poles, cages, and socks

  • Auger rental for windsock installation

Neil McGarry will help prepare an email survey for members to vote on the motion. Passage requires a quorum of 30 member votes, with a majority in favor. The motion remains pending a vote.

3. Proposed Bylaw Amendment

Dave Chapman introduced a proposed amendment to Article V, Section 4, intended to ensure equitable protection of hang gliding interests at both Point of the Mountain flight parks. The proposal would require at least five current club members holding a USHPA H3 or higher hang gliding rating to be included in the two-thirds majority approving motions affecting hang gliding launch or landing areas on either side.

Following discussion, Dave Chapman withdrew the motion. He may revise and resubmit a similar proposal at a future meeting.

4. Board of Directors Nominations — 2027

Nominations are open through November for the January–December 2027 Board of Directors. The current President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary (Harry, Chris, James, and Laura) are willing to continue in their current director positions to support continuity and the ongoing USHPA chapter reinstatement process.

The club particularly welcomes nominations for Safety Officer positions covering hang gliders, paragliders, and miniwings.

  • Nominate: Email uhgpga@gmail.com.

  • Eligibility: Nominees must be active USHPA members and agree in writing to serve. Safety Officers must have an advanced pilot rating (H4, P4, or M2 or equivalent).

  • Election: Directors will be elected by a majority vote of members in good standing present at the December Annual Meeting. An election will be held for any position with multiple candidates.

5. December Annual Member Meeting

The club discussed options for the traditional fourth-quarter/annual member meeting in December. Himalayan Kitchen in downtown Salt Lake City, where the club has gathered for dinner the past two years, remains an option.

Members are invited to suggest restaurants with group seating for approximately 50 people or venues that accommodate a catered dinner.

6. Upcoming Pilot Wellness Clinic

The club is planning to host a clinic focused on pilot wellness. Stay tuned for further details.
